In accordance with Section 96-16, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Office of the Ombudsman submitted the report for fiscal year 2016-2017. This is the forty-eighth annual report since the establishment of the office in 1969. During the fiscal year 2016-2017, the office received a total of 3,300 inquiries. Of these inquiries, 2,357, or 71.4 percent, may be classified as complaints within the jurisdiction of the office. The remaining inquiries consisted of 389 non-jurisdictional complaints and 554 requests for information. There was a decrease in all categories of inquiries which consists of three parts: a) Total received questionnaires b) Statistical tables c) A summary of selected cases that include: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Roads and Transportation.
